Strawberries do not need to be grown in greenhouses. Although you can grow strawberries from seed. If you grow from seed you can start them off in greenhouses as this will speed them up.
If you grow from seed it may take several years before you get a good crop of fruit. It can be a lot quicker to buy some small strawberry plants and plant them directly into the garden. The better option is to plant into pots or special tall strawberry pots as these give better protection against pests such as slugs and snails.
They should be watered regularly and never be allowed to dry out. Although growing in pots will limit the spread of strawberries. When the fruits turn red is the best time to pick them before they start to go soft.
